Salient features:

  • Safety:

The footing is made to pass a number of design checks (see flowchart) to withstand its design storm/cyclone/earthquake. A footing is not accepted until:

  • Soil pressure < SBC
  • Punching shear < allowable value
  • Bending shear < allowable value
  • Sagging BM < MR (sagging)
  • Hogging BM < MR (hogging)
  • FOS in uplift > 1.5
  • Development & anchorage requirements for re-bars are fulfilled.
  • Economy:

Since material costs are taken into consideration, remarkable economy in foundation cost is achieved in terms of steel, concrete, formwork and earthwork. As an example, for a one lac sq. ft. warehouse with 80~100 footings, savings in foundation cost will be around Rs 3~4 lacs.

  • Speed:

Design calculations are performed, with calculations sheets ready to be printed, at a 'click' of the mouse button. Hence we are able to issue construction drawings faster than others.

  • Optimized Design:

Design checks are done on a footing starting with its smallest practical size. Footing size is then progressively increased until it passes all necessary checks, ensuring optimum footing size for given loads.

  • Calculations:

The step-by-step detailed calculations on our unique calculation template, highlighting the reserve strength/ FOS against each action, will help you to carry out subsequent alterations to your structure, for example, by adding an extra floor to the building, or adding solar panels over a warehouse, and so on.
